Michael Wille is an American artist residing in Normal, IL. He has been included in numerous solo and group exhibitions around the United States and abroad including venues such as the Space Art Gallery in Pittsburgh, Hoffman LaChance Contemporary in St. Louis, Resolution Gallery in Johannesburg (South Africa) and the University of Mississippi Art Gallery. In particular, Wille was featured in Mapping the Terrain: New Directions in Abstract Painting in Louisiana and New American Talent in Texas in 2007. Wille’s abstract paintings have been featured in New American Paintings five times. His work is a part of numerous corporate collections around the United States, including The Four Seasons Hotel in Boston, Vinson and Elkins (LLC) in Houston, The Benzinger Family Wineries in California and the Renaissance Suites Hotel in Chicago. Wille has lectured about his work at various academic venues including Temple University in Japan (Tokyo), the University of Iowa as well as the University of KwaZulu-Natal in Pietermaritzburg (South Africa), where he was an artist-in-residence in February 2009.
In addition to keeping an active studio practice, Wille is an Associate Professor of Art at Illinois State University in Normal, IL. There he teaches a wide range of courses within the Painting and Drawing curriculum, including mentoring MFA students. Michael Wille received his MFA degree in Painting from Bowling Green State University (OH) and his BFA degree from Millikin University (IL).
